Authorities are looking into the strange death of Stephen Smith (per People), who was 19 years old when he died in a supposed hit-and-run incident in 2015. The family has long suspected far fouler play, and the case has been mentioned in connection with the Murdaughs. As it happens, Smith went to school with one of the Murdaugh children.
Another death that has been connected to the Murdaugh family hits far closer to home ... literally. The family's housekeeper, Gloria Satterfield, died in the Murdaugh household from a fall in 2018. Though originally deemed accidental, the death is now being looked into by the authorities.
