Henry Cavill may be best known by comic book movie fans for portraying Superman in the "Man of Steel," but recent rumors suggest that audiences might be seeing Cavill as another iconic comic book character. In 2021, the Marvel Cinematic Universe released its third television series to stream on Disney+ with the time-hopping thriller, "Loki." Bringing back Tom Hiddleston as the titular god of mischief, the show sees an alternate version of Loki team up with the Time Variance Authority to help save the world from an impending threat to the timeline. Acclaimed by critics (via Rotten Tomatoes) and breaking records as Marvel's most streamed Disney+ series (via Deadline), the show became the first of Marvel's Disney + shows to be renewed for a second season (via IGN).
Fans are excited to see more of the maniacal madness from "Loki," especially as it contains major plot points for the MCU moving forward. More details about the second season were revealed during Disney D23 on Saturday, September 10, including new additions to the cast such as "Everything Everywhere All At Once" star Ke Huy Quan and "Blindspotting" star Rafael Casal. However, rumors started by Marvel leaker @cinestealth have suggested that none other than Henry Cavill might be joining the series as the Marvel character, Hyperion, with some pretty grand implications for future MCU projects. If hearing such news wasn't exciting enough, some fans have chosen to visualize what the actor would look like in the role.

With his beefed-up physique and rich blonde hair, it's hard to imagine anyone else in the role after looking at the fan art. It seems that fans who viewed the artwork were in agreement, as many commented on the post in support of the casting decision, with @ghx.why.not.jah playfully commenting, "Bro left the role of Superman just to go play Superman again." This is not a mere reference to the "Man of Steel" and "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" actor returning to a comic book role.
In fact, Hyperion was originally created by Marvel as a response to the iconic DC superhero. Originally debuting in "Avengers" #69 by Roy Thomas and Sal Buscema, Hyperion was intended to be Marvel's response to Superman. Even the character's team, the Squadron Sinister, is seen as an evil version of DC's Justice League. Hyperion would go on to become more heroic as the team changed to the Squadron Supreme in later comics, although he still often tussled with the Avengers on various occasions (via CBR). Some speculate that his inclusion in "Loki" could be an indicator that the Squadron might be teaming up with Kang the Conqueror in 2025's "Avengers: Kang Dynasty."
