- Russell was a semifinalist in the Negative Space Short Comics competition, in which they entered their debut minicomic "The Eyes I Cannot See."
- Previously an actor, they played the role of Alvin in the SHOWTIME drama "American Rust."
- In 2023, they will release their first full-length comic book project, titled "robot/apocalypse."
Experience
Russell's passion for entertainment writing arguably began in earnest when they were nine-years-old, after a school assignment compelled them to write the synopsis of their favorite piece of media: Russell wrote about "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed." Despite studying and working in the theatre industry for most of their life, Russell was continuously pulled back into the writing world. Enjoying everything from Shakespearean classics to 1995's "Mortal Kombat," they've cultivated a unique combination of writing influences including Dave Malloy, Alan Moore, Martin Crimp, and Ben Macintyre. Their goal is not to use entertainment criticism to determine whether or not a thing is "good" or "bad," but to instead help themselves and their audience feel more empowered to love what they love in deeper ways.
Education
After attending Wake Tech Community College, Murray received acceptance to Ithaca College, where they graduated with honors from the Department of Theatre Arts. During their time at school, they extensively studied performance and political science, as well as stage direction, film production, and dramatic writing.
